Industrial soot, marketed as carbon black, consists of fine carbon particles and has an amorphous molecular structure. This material is used in industries such as plastics, rubber, paint, and others. Most of the industrial soot produced globally is manufactured using a furnace process and is in granulated form. During the production of industrial soot, waste gas is generated, which is highly valuable in terms of thermal value and temperature. Worldwide, this gas is primarily used for providing heat for the driers in the industrial soot production process or for generating power and heat. To date, none of the four carbon black production companies in Iran has succeeded in producing power from this gas. In this research, five different cycles were examined for generating power and heat from the waste gas of the industrial soot production process at the Dood Fam factory, which has a production capacity of over 60,000 tons per year. The waste gas produced during the industrial soot manufacturing process is used as fuel, providing significant thermal value and serving as the primary fuel for the cycles. The results show that in the waste gas cycle, along with a heat recovery steam generator system, 12,157 kW of power was generated, achieving an overall efficiency of 89.9%. Additionally, the combined cycle produced 7,934 kW with an efficiency of 41.23%, representing the best efficiency and maximum power generation, allowing for the sale of excess electricity to the grid and creating revenue for the factory.
