For a long time, Energy has been one of the most important areas of economic cooperation between Iran and China. China is a major importer of energy and Iran is a major supplier of energy. In this research, by applying trend analysis on China 2050 energy demand outlook based on elements of China energy security framework which includes transition in consumption modification, energy supply, energy technology, energy systems sectors and improving international cooperation in all directions, the cooperation opportunities between China and Iran were investigated in context of Iran-China 25 years comprehensive cooperation agreement. This survey concludes that in average case scenario for 2030 outlook which is predicted to be peak of China energy import in future, there is limited cooperation opportunity in crude export area as main energy commodity; but there will be more opportunity for cooperation in Iran south east transportation corridor mitigating the supply risks posing from strait of Hormuz. Considering minimum case scenario in China’s natural gas imports for 2030 outlook, China will add 70 billion cubic meters to its current imports level and there is cooperation capacity in Iran-Central Asia-China corridors. Iran can also consider cooperation capacity in coal power plant and renewable energy plant technologies with China. Cooperation in electricity network area is considered a long-term option.
