Abstract:   (44 Views)
The construction of buildings consumes a significant amount of nonrenewable energy and natural resources, resulting in greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste, and other environmental burdens throughout their lifespan. In industrial buildings, a considerable portion of energy consumption is attributed to lighting systems. However, there has been limited research on balancing lighting energy consumption with the visual comfort of workers in industrial settings. This study seeks to investigate international requirements and standards for industrial lighting systems and compare the lighting systems in Charmshahr industrial estate, located in Varamin of Tehran, with these standards. Therefore, the shortcomings of the existing lighting system are identified suitable strategies to improve energy efficiency are proposed. The study utilizes a mixed research methodology, incorporating a comprehensive literature review, document analysis, observation, field investigation, comparison, and cost-benefit analysis. Additionally, two case studies are examined to assess the current energy-efficient solutions for industrial lighting systems. The results indicate that fluorescent, high-intensity discharge, induction, and sulfur lamps are suitable light sources for industrial applications. Furthermore, daylighting systems, particularly skylight units, and lighting control based on sensor networks are effective strategies for reducing energy consumption in lighting systems. Finally, integrating lighting systems with other building systems, such as HVAC, leads to more comprehensive and efficient solutions.
