Energy, as one of the most important production inputs, on one hand promotes economic growth, while on the other hand, by producing environmental pollutants, can reduce quality of life. achieving an economic structure that increases economic growth per unit of energy consumption is important and valuable. In this context, the present study utilizes statistical evidence from MENA countries for the period 2007-2021 and employs a panel data approach to examine the effect of export diversification on energy efficiency. The results indicate that export diversification has a positive and significant impact on energy efficiency. Urbanization and resource rents have led to a decrease in energy efficiency, suggesting an undesirable urban structure and weak governance in this group of countries. Conversely, industrialization has increased energy efficiency, indicating greater growth in production relative to energy consumption in the industrial sector.
